She starts off extremely pessimistic and unwilling to be there, grumbling about how sucky things are (though she has a fair few reasons to complain, let's not mince words.) and generally being annoyed by people. While Owen made it to the finale on having friends and being skilled, Gwen made it there on sheer determination and the development of her character.
